I have pulled the fuel tank from my '69 350/300 (no tank sticker) The inside of the tank is perfect and the outside cleaned up pretty good. I need to refinish the outside to factory correct any suggestions? or should I replace it?
If you are not going to have the car judged, there is a paint to simulate the original zinc finish that will hold up better than replating at a fraction of the cost.
I believe you can get the paint from Hirsh Automotive. You can probably get it cheaper if you check around.
As long as the inside of the tank is clean and you are not going NCRS paint the outside.
I used a silver galvanising paint which looked prety cool. You only get to see the tank from underneath and if you drive it hard it will get dirty pretty quick anyway.
