Ive think ive come to a point in my life that I can actually drive my vette without getting on it at every other opportunity. The last few times out with the car ive found it very enjoyable to just take a mellow drive, totally relaxed, head way back against headrest....ect. The urge to slam it to the redline all the time is weakining. Before at a light when lined up against another my heart would race in anticipation of compitition. But now when I decide not to I can remain very relaxed. My right foot is getting signficantly lighter. Of coarse our C3's are so beautifill they get plenty of attention even when parked and I do love that. Whats going on here? Whats happened to me?
Yeh, I hear you, maybe that's why I"m giving consideration to a guy's offer for the car.....16 grand, supposedly....never know though, can't even trust cash in Florida, could be counterfeit....
I try to get it out of my system at the track. I still get the urge to "goose" it - almost continuously, but I now almost never go full WOT on the street.
unless i'm pressed for time on a long drive and not so much traffic i just keep it in the middle lane, you're more apt to be police bait in the fastlane
I can understand your feelings. My vette is near stock so I don't have this issue with it. However I also own a 67 Camaro w/a moded 406 small block, 4.10's, etc. It has turned high 11's at the track and is a BLAST to drive. Years ago I would be "on it" alot but any more it's enough just to know the HP is there w/o having to use it most of the time.
Now don't get me wrong, once in awhile it's fun to do a "banzi" run when getting on the interstate, or getting on it for just a couple seconds when a riced out Honda, etc thinks his car is "bad", but anymore 98% of the time just having it rumble along at a normal pace is satisfying enough for me.
I knew there would be a bunch of humor comming out of this. I love this forum. Its loaded with a bunch of great people.
I wont let you down totally. I still have the guts no doubt. I promise to raise a little hell every now and then. Its funny though, since Ive mellowed out, its amazing how many other drivers I see trying to egg me on. For some reason I didnt notice this as much before. Even when they're driving the crappiest POS's. I guess they just wanna see the vette run. Drove it down to Mainstreet Annapolis last night. With my converter manually locked in 2nd gear I just chugged along real slow just above the lopey idle. Got 4 "nice car" comments from peoples on the sidewalk in the short stretch. It feels good to hear that considering my car is far from perfect.
