Default stuck bolt/plug for oil sending unit

Hello - I'm trying to install my 383 and doing some this goes here, that goes there stuff - well where my oil pressure sending unit is - on new motor there is a plug - trying to remove it - naturally it strips. I've used some penetrating oil on it - after cursing - I started to drill it out - however, that doesnt' seem like it will do much good either. I've searched the archives and some had mentioned heat - I don't have access to such "heaters" let alone the knowledge of using a torch/welder. Any other ideas - I'm guessing this little plug is brass which is softer :mad - thanks in advance . . ryan

Get a small propane torch (about $20) and an easy-out (about $7). Drill the plug to the recommended size (which you have done already) and put the flame to it for about 1 min. Then use the easy-out to back it out. Because you are drilling, you will want to flush the new motor with clean oil to prevent any metal from causing any problems.

Also, use the spiral type of easy out, not the square type. They grab much better and break less. Especially on brass.

thanks - so far I've been drilling it out - the ez out didn't seem to have much effect - drilled/bored it out enough I think - I'll re-tap - don't think I'll have to use a heli-coil - yet. . .
