Hmm
I went 15.141 at 88mph in the 1/4 with mine.
Hollow cat and borla mufflers was all that I had at the time.
I'm just waiting for the fall (cooler weather) to go run again, I now have a ported intake installed....

Well, look my frist Vette was an '82 (when I was 15). The previous owner evedently treated it like a step child. At the time I knew nothing of cars, not saying I do now, but I do know more then I did then.

When I got the car the injectors on top of the tbi were melted, only one tbi worked, I got six miles to the gallon, and no pick up. I searched at Classic Chevrolet of Grapevine, and a speed shop here in D/FW neather one of them could do anything get any parts or lend me any sense of advice.

In no way shape or forum was I trying to degrade Cross Fire I was simply giving my two cents of the dual tbi's that I owned at the time.

If I had known about this forum or if anyone was able to help me I think I would have thought other wise with the information givin at hand.

So Twin can you see my pov?

Thanks,
Bill

I understand what you were trying to do, but I still think that not replying on something you don't know about would have been better in this situation.
Another words, don't rip on the CFI if you don't know anything about it, all your doing is continuing the image of the CFI as a total piece of crap and that there is nothing that can be done to help it.
We can prove you wrong on everything you say about it. So don't say it the next time someone asks.

i am currently looking at an 82 CE as a second C3 and i have a question...
were there 2 types ala L48 & L82(3) ???
please straighten me out here...
if there is a difference...how do you tell, other than badges? (they may have been removed)
the one i am looking at has had the xfire replaced with a carb but they still have the whole set up...
the car is owned by a friend of mine and all of the work, including the complete engine rebuild was done by another friend that is a very good mechanic (he has helped me on many projects on my 79)
here is a thread about the car and potential purchace...
im not trying to hijack the thread here...just trying to learn about CE's too

You could choose between the l-83 and the l-83, either with the 700r4 auto slush box or the 700-r4 slush box

Seriously, only l-83 with 700r4 available.

Default I have an 84 with CFI

I have owned an 84 vette for about 15 years now and drive it on sunny weekend days and have never had a problem with the CFI. Not the quickest of them but it does get about 24MPG. The car has about 80,000 miles on it.

Unless the engine assembly plant had extra 4-bolt blocks laying around, I think you'll find the L-83 was a 'nothing-special' 2-bolt, cast crank, 'junk' (non-pink) -rod SBC, but it did come with forged pistons, delivering 9:1 CR with 'junk' 76cc cylinder heads.

Eyup, pistons are nice, crank is so so, rods are x-rods. But with the stock 200 Hp who needs better parts

The block is an L-82 casting but without the 4 bolt mains
