Last I read, the only surviving 4 door Corvette was owned by Daniel LaVene of Maitland, Florida. The car was featured in the March 2001 issue of Corvette Fever page 48.

The original owner of the car was Dorothy McGuire of the McGuire Sisters. New the car sold for $35,000. Interesting article.

Anyone have a picture of this 4 door corvette? They have a late 70's early 80's corvette limo in the movie " mystery men " (Ben Stiller). It was the only thing good about the movie.

I recall seeing a grey one. The roof wasn't at the same height though. The rear section was raised slightly I think.

The 4 door Corvettes were conversions which became available in the late '70s. Monogram even made a 1/25th scale model of one.

I have two magazines from that era that cover this conversion. It looks cool; especially the interior. Some didn't like it.

If I get a chance I'll scan some of the pages.

Hopefully that abomination is resting in a junkyard after a date with Mr. Crusher.

I don't get it. Factory four door versions of passenger cars, especially of that era were just not cool. If you were going to soup up a run of the mill car you generally went for the two door versions of cars like Chevelles, Novas, 57's, etc, because using the four door versions looked silly. So here we have a factory performance car only available in a two door BECAUSE it's a sports car by design, not a muscle version of an otherwise average car, and some azz comes along and thinks "gee, why not make a four door version?" never stopping to consider the reason why there are non is because it looks stupid. So Mr. good taste spends time and money to look ridiculous.

(dorkvoice) "Hey, I got a Porsche 911 Carrera! Lets make a four door out of it?(/dorkvoice) No wonder a lot of owners of $$ European sports cars talk trash about Corvette owners. Look what some of us do to our cars!
