Looked at the "barn" car today-------a '69 convert VIN#194679S727649 Trim code is 407 Paint code is 972-------car appears to be all there nice ralley wheel with ring/caps-------looks like a 390 HP 427----with air-----could not get to the engine to get the numbers------but it is a big block-----it is just stuck in the back of a butler bldg that this guy got in an auction-----car is pretty rough but looks like lots of potential-------what is a good /great price as will be buying as is and not even sure will run-------thanks in advance Apple
A lot of variables here--how original is it, how complete, how sound is the frame and birdcage, etc. And what does "rough" mean? Bad paint?
But assuming a good solid car with mostly original parts & matching numbers drivetrain, I might be willing to go as high as $12 or $13K but probably no higher. Even if it appears to be in good condition, you're looking at new paint, an engine rebuild, new brake calipers, and new rubber all around, which means another $7K or more.
A good/great price? Assuming the above, $8K or less, IMHO.

Reason: Just because.
I just rescued a barn car, kind of. It's owner just quit driving it with VERY low miles and let it sit in the garage. That was 1972. I talked him into letting me get it running for him since he wouldn't sell it. It's a 69' big block vert as well. I have around $6000 in parts in it just getting the mechanicals back to where they should be. I still need to put another $500 or so in the rear suspension and driveline. He paid for all the parts, the labor is kind of "charity work". Post some pics of the car when you get it. I'm anxious to see it in the hands of someone who will rescue it.
anybody got the key to the paint and trim codes---would like to know what color it is upposed to be-----it is white /black but the interior looks like it is red dyed black thanks
