Has anyone heard of a company that makes a 57 Vette kit that fits on the C-3 frame? I heard talk of one this weekend. I've seen the "Cobrette" kit, but that's equivalent to sleeping with the enemy.
no I haven't but one of our forum member has that 61 on the modified C-1/ C-5 frame with LS-1 powertrain. If I were to undergo such a major project shurely I wouldn't go with 35 year old suspension when C5 frames can be had and welded to the C-1. Let me find you his site. You remember the guy, 67 BB 502 red vert, 61 mentioned above, 4 car marble floored garage, ring any bells.

I saw an unfinished 57 repro for sale at the Autofair at Charlotte Speedway last year but it appeared to be on a very early frame too. I'd think if someone has the fab skills to tackle such a project it shouldn't be too hard to put it on whatever chassis you want. There are some kit car magazines and a search will turn up a lot of interesting kit cars too. Nearly anything you can imagine and some you can't!

I have seen a few kits to take a C1-3 body and use a C4-5 drivetrain. These are tube frames with all mounts to drop in everything without mods. I have not seen a kit to drop a C1-2 onto a C3 frame, but that doesn't meant they don't exist.
You may only need to add the C3 IRS, change front springs & add sway bars to the 57. I made a 57 Chevy handle great by replacing the front springs w/ much stiffer ones from a 60s station wagon.
Interesting website, but I was looking to go the other way. I have an excellent '74 rolling chasis with a marginal body. I've got two other C-3's of more aestetic value (sorry '74 owners), and since I can never afford a C-1, I was looking into other body options to go with the chasis on hand. I heard there was a kit that was similar to the Cobrette, that bolts onto a C-3 frame and running gear. I'll keep looking, or maybe start a company...any investors out there?????
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
