Default Burn Out Contest

Entered the vet in a burn out contest, was kind of curious what it would do.

They hook me up and said you got 20 sec. let her rip. Put it in low and took it up to 6000 RPM and went into second but it wouldn't go no higher than 3500 RPM so just hled it there till my time was up.

Vet did good didn't win but had a good time , was a good test for the back tires 295/50/15.

Naw, you won't get flamed by these guys. They might make fun of you, but they won't flame you.

It's pretty simple: rev it up, drop the clutch. If you want to burn out in place, a line lock is handy, but you can do it without one if you're really coodinated and can get fast off the clutch and onto the brake, but just enough to hold you more or less in place and not lock up the rear. Most of the "burn out contests" I've seen, they use bleach or something similar to make it really smokey and to make it easier to sustain the burn out.

I AM NOT, by the way, advocating that you do any of this. All burn outs discussed in this post were done on a closed course by a professional driver.

Then spend the next three days cleaning rubber off your rear quarter panels, gas tank, and rear wireing harness!
But it's still fun!!!!!

Be forwarned, I've seen rear brakes on some cars get so hot in B/O contests that the grease on the wheel hubs/rear end area catches fire! Didn't seem to do any damage, and they were all metal cars with rear drums.

Our club has a setup for it because most places don't want you tearing up the road.

We have a steel plate that the back tires go on then tire blocks are placed in front of the front tires. Then we place a steel bar in front of that and chain it to the back plate. pour a little water and bleach and let the car go for 20 sec.

It took a while out to figure out front wheel drive cars, but we just do the reverse and have them put it put the car in reverse. I also did my turbo SRT-4 and had good results with that too.

The nice thing with the burn out contest is we bring in a lot more people to our car shows. Young guys show up with beater cars to compete that may not normally come. Plus a lot of trucks.

Two weeks ago we had a news crew show up and film us.

Eddie

I have heard spraying the quarter panels with cooking spray will prevent the molten rubber from sticking
