Default Sorry, wheel/tire question #468

I have another line on a set of wheels for my 77 L82. I want to get the real facts. My stock alloys are 15x8 with 4" backspacing correct?

The wheels in question are two 15x8 with 3.5" backspacing and two 15x8.5 with 3.75" backspacing.

I am using 255/60/15 Firehawks.

I think the rears will be ok since they will stick out an extra 1/4" due to the backspacing and an extra 1/2" due to the rim being 1/2 wider? I think that it will fit if looking at my setup and adding 3/4" total width is correct.

In the front I am worried about tire rub at full lock but I think I will end up just being 1/2 wider than now which should be pretty ok.

I guess worst comes to, next time I could buy 255/50/15 tires?

The owner claims he ran these on a stock 69' Vette for years.

Looking for input before I buy more paperweights!!!

Thanks guys!

A lot of the vintage American Racing wheels where 15 x 8.5 with 3.75" backspacing
I have a set of Vintage 200s wheels of that size on mine with 245/60/15's and have no issues.

My new wheels are TTIIs with 15 x 8 with 3.75 backspacing. This is perfect as the wheels are pushed out slightly, but do not have any rub issues and dont ride too far out.

In my sig you can see how they fit. Noticeable in person for sure. I like the look.

Are your current Firehawks Indy 500s or SS20s? I am looking for a set of SS20 in the size you mentioned if they are in good shape.

Default tires

They are the SS20's.

Not planning on selling the stock alloys. They are in great shape and I figured I would attic them and try something new. I might sell them if the $$ was right and I could locate a mint set of Vectors.

Let me know if you are interested in selling at some point. They are a discontinued tire, so I don't really know what they are worth but shoot me a number if you are interested. I am in no hurry.
