Im sure someone has already asked this but I looked through 6 pages and could not find it. What is the BEST way to lower my 70 C3? By the way I am impressed with all the help that everbody gives on this forum....thanks!!
For the front, you can...
A) Cut springs
B) Buy springs that are supposed to lower it
C) Install a transverse leaf spring setup
For the rear, it's a matter of installing longer spring bolts.
The best? The best overall solution is probably the Vette Brakes transverse front spring setup. It gives the most versatile setup in terms of being able to adjust spring rate and ride height independent of each other.
I bought the 550 lb front coils and longer spring bolts from Vette brakes and parts. I am sure Mid America Motorworks, Van Steel, and the other parts suppliers have them. Also check Fastcorvette.com (they have free shipping).
The 550 lb coils lowered the front around 1" to 1 1/2" and with the 10" spring bolts I was able to lower the rear about the same.
I expected a harsh ride but was surprised with how well the car rides and handles.
I used the VBP 550's and it dropped the front 1 to 1 1/2 inches also. $59 is a great price. I put the 7 leaf steel spring in the rear and adjusted with bolts.
