Default Model Year Question -

I was just wondering, thought one of you would know -

What Model Year was in production in late August of 1969?

I want to know because of a curiosity, and since the current model years are a bit shifted ('05 coming out in July of '04), what was Chevy doing with MY releases a few decades ago?

That was an odd year as the '69 was still in production in Aug '69. Normaly the change over is in july but the '69 stayed in production until Dec '69 (Sept 68 - Dec 69).

1969 was a strike year for the UAW at GM. They may have been on strike at that time.

1970 production started in late Dec 1969. My 70 was the 2200 produced with a build date of Jan 20

Thank John Delorean for the high production numbers on the 69 Z/28 and Corvette, he decided to extend production of the 69 models into December of 69 after settling the UAW strike of 69. My 1970 LT-1 Vette had evidence of the worker fatigue in the fit and finish of the origianl never been hit or re-painted body (54K miles and barley a scratch on it when I bought it.) The rear panel at the spoiler lip had evidence of the 6" orbital sander that was used by the worker on the assembly line and the exhaust valence panel was never primered but color was applied directly over the raw fiberglass panel. I used to get a pit in my stomach every time I drove that car, thinking that the next intersection would be the scene of the first major catastrophy for the LT-1 (lots of unlicensed illegal alien drivers here in beautiful California, thanks to our great "open" border policies!) I sold the car and the guy who bought it for his first Vette has told me he wants to re-paint the car! I cannot seem to get it through his head that the car with all of it's flaws is far more valuable than the most expensive paint job would ever return on investment (I really hope he never paints it! it is NCRS "benchmark" as it sits.) My 72 LT-1 has it's flaws but, I don't work on an ulcer everytime I drive it either!

... and for an extra dose of trivia...
the first '69 Corvette built in August of '69 was serial # 25876, and the last one built in August was # 28107. That's 2,232 Vettes built that month. Just another piece of information you'll never need...
