Anyone else running one of these? I have the vacuum line to the brake booster, and PCV valve line hooked up. What goes where from there?

I'll take pics tomorrow if I need to.

Guess that means I need pictures. It wants to run....but I didn't try too much as I know I have open vacuum ports on the carb. Maybe I"ll take pics of the two "extra" vacuum lines that I have as well. Well, 3 now with the Holley.

Yes I have one. Is it a model 4777? Now if you are asking where to hook up all you pollution control devices then note that holley double pumpers are not meant to be "street legal".
There are three vacuum ports on this carb only - the rear port for you power brakes and accessories, then just the two vacuum ports for timed and manifold vacuum for your distributor advance. Obviously, plug them up if you are not using them.

I don't know if a picture will do any good unless I take the carb off the manifold, just not enough room to get at the angles to see all the holes. I don't have a PCV since I have a modied engine so it may not do any good anyways.
From the rear vacuum port I have my brakes connected as well as all vacuum controlled accessories (headlights, wiper, etc,), from the front timed port I have my vacuum advance connected, from my front manifold vacuum port I have my electric choke connected. That's it.

I've got one as well.
Take some pics. I'll try to get some pics of mine.
I've rerouted some vacuum lines and everything on mine seems to work.
My (vacuum controlled) heater controls do not, but; I haven't dug into those yet.

All other power accessories and headlights are AOK.

I've got PCV connection going to the breather, not the carb.
Sounds like mine is hooked up similarly to the other guys.

Haven't posted pics before....Anyone care to tell me how? If either of you want, I can sent pics. I also have 3 vacuum lines that are clipped to the firewall under the master cylinder. One of them went to carb, other two go to the front of the car. None of them are hooked up. Headlights work fine.....so no idea what they are. If you're willing to help me I'm more than willing to email pics. ANY help appreciated.

Managed to get everything figured out last night. Only question now is the extra 3 vacuum lines. Anyone? They are clipped together and head toward the front of the car. They are clipped on the wheelwell about 10-12 inches below the master cylinder

PCV stands for Postive Crankcase Ventilation, a vac line is hooked to the carb and draws air through the eng from either the breather tubed that routes to the air cleaner or a stand alone breather. If you do not have it set up fumes can collect in the eng bay when the car is not I motion.

Right. Can anyone tell me where those 3 vacuum lines go? 79 L-82, with AC.

A picture is worth a thousand words.
go to photobucket.com
get an account (it's free).
upload your pictures and then you can cut and paste the [IMG] section here to allow us to see the pics.

That being said, if you can get a couple of pics to see exactly what vacuum lines you're talking about, then maybe I can help. (I'll try anyways).

Also took a pic of a strange connector. thermostat housing was taken off last night...new gasket, and paint in store. For obvious reasons!

Not sure from those pics.
It may be for the vapor canister.
(pollution device that filters gas fumes).

When I got mine, there were some lines like that that were just hanging or sitting with a bolt in them.
I removed them and put vacuum caps on the connectors.

Take a pic or to from a little farther away and maybe above so I can see the "big picture" so to speak.

I noticed your block is orange. I didn't think they painted them that color in 79. Mine is the crappy light blue. Has your motor been replaced/rebuilt?

Yes, had the motor rebuit not too long ago. double hump heads.....pistons, mains, rods; figured about 10.5-1 compression now.

Car runs fine without them.....I'll just cap them and assume they're for something I no longer have. Obviously more of a "fun" car than a perfect "numbers matching" car.

I see.
What kind of heads? Stock modified?
What intake you got on there?

I am hoping to do some mods to mine, but; not as soon as I hoped.
I just found out that my rear wheel bearings are bad. $400+ and that is if I remove them and send them off. Sheez!
I also have a bad tire. Of course, they are very old and not made anymore, so; I'll have to get 4.

Guess the intake and headers get to wait a few more months. . .

Mine is supposed to be a 24K mile car, but; I'm beginning to wonder.

I bought mine as a fun car as well, though, so I'm not losing any sleep over it. I will be modding.

Over the winter I plan on removing the engine and replacing all of the gaskets and clean it up / paint it as I have a couple of oil leaks. Then while it's out, I'm going to detail the engine compartment.

double hump heads....nothing special. Father actually owned (and abused) this car up until about 4 months ago. Stock intake...got rid of that quadrajunk carburetor, though.

I've been spending all my free time on the brakes. Hopefully today I'll get my last brake line via UPS and install it trouble free (ha!)....and then i can at least drive it. Already have paint for it to repaint it this fall.....paint is not in that bad of shape....but not like it should be...lots of orange peel, etc....

At some point I"ll pull the intake....clean it up and paint it, or I may just replace it.....

Tires on the front don't match the ones in the back.....but for now, it's not a priority. I just want it driveable! NEXT YEAR....I keep telling myself.

I have one soft spot in the frame that needs help.....that'll be a spring fix as well. Then, FOR SALE!

Car does not want to idle when I start it cold. Also, after sitting for a few days there is no longer any fuel in the inline filter. Always have to pump the pedal twice before I start it, then get RPM's up to about 2500 for 30 seconds or so. Then the idle calms down and the cam sings like crazy.

But it's that initial start that has me worried. I give it gas and it stutters as if it's going to flood. Soon as it hits about 2k rpms it sounds great. Pedal to the floor and the secondaries open up and it sounds like a beast...but if I don't keep it about 2500rpm for about 30 seconds it will sputter and die.

Any thoughts?
