"lectric limited" is the only accurate one that I know of.

Try a Wells TU5 sending unit. Should read about 700 ohms at room temp. You can get them at most auto parts stores.

I agree, call Lectric Limited. I had heck getting a sending unit that matched up with the stock gauge and the ZZ4 in the 74 - they got me straightened. out.

Do I go in and ask for exactly that? I would think the teenagers behind the counter will look at me and go "whatever dude". Do you by chance have a part number or model reference. I may have to order from lectric, but I was wanting to get it today.

Not to be smart, but with a 68 engine why not just go into NAPA and ask for your application? The problems come in with swapping later engines in early cars, then use an 82 sending unit. They have smaller bosses in the heads than the early engines.

If you get a GM 68 replacement A/C delco sender, it will be WRONG. application won't do it for you.

Ok , earlier its said to be 700 ohms at room temp. Are all (68 to 82) our temperature Gauges set to use this? I've tried once last year and ended up with something close. It went to a late 80's chevy truck. If one is reading to high by about twenty degrees, can I add a resistor to it to drop the reading?

If you add a resistor you may well end up with an accurate reading in one range and very inaccurate in another. Remember that the real purpose of the gauge is to warn you of an overtemp condition, not to give a certain reading at normal temps.

Try the Wells TU5 from Autozone. They cost $6. Mosy people who try them report good success. I discovered these about 5-6 years ago and started recommending them on the NCRS board. Since then, probably 2 dozen people have emailed me to tell me the TU5 worked in their car. All the Vettes from 57 to about 76-77? use the same sender. It will work with the 56 also, but the wire connector is different.

The Wells TU5 is what I am using in my original 327 and it has been reading accurate. I read about it on the NCRS board. I also had to replace the pin type connector on the wiring harness with a mushroom head type connector.

Yeah, I forgot the later cars also use the pin type connector, similar to the 56. I should have said that the Wells unit will fit 57-67 and 56, 68-7X "with a little modification".
