Thinking of EFI?

It's been quite a learning process, and not for the faint of heart. When I'm done, the Vette will have a pretty much stateof-the-art wideband O2 EFI setup.

My tuner also says that it is the most robust and the easiest to use software that he works with.
Enjoy the installation - that part sucks.
Getting the car tuned is not real fun either.
But hoping into the car on a cold cold day or even when it's over 115 out and having it start right up, that's worth the work. Never having to play with metering rods, jets, accel pump squirters, or idle mixture screws EVER AGAIN -- that is REALLY worth it !!

One is a throttle body type

Which one did you choose to go with. There is a big difference in the price which could sway a person one way or the other. I like the look of the multiport and would lean to go that way. I am sure it would be better for performance and mileage. Which way did you go? Just curious. I am wanting to get around to adding this to my vette eventually.

The interesting part is all the control you have over the other engine compartment items. You can control the fuel pump, fan, a/c, and other components based on what's happening in the engine. I had to get everything together to ensure that everything plugged together correctly, and to wire up some new connectors like one to the fuel pump, electric fan, and electric water pump. I also am using the heated wideband O2 sensor (the box in the middle), so it has to be wired in to replace the normal unheated O2 sensor that came with the system. The wideband sensors allow very precise monitoring of the air to fuel ratio.
The fuel pump is an Aeromotive pump - it will do the job, but I had no idea these things are so large! It also needs a pre-filter and a filter for the injectors - what a pain.
The red flat thing in the front is a crank trigger, part of the MSD ignition system (I'm using the MSD digital box).
Also interesting is that one of the cheapest parts is the laptop computer. It was only 50 bucks (an old Toshiba Win98). If I run over it in the shop, I'll just get another.
I have no idea what my mileage will be, but most other EFI users report mileage similar to or better than carbs, without hot and cold weather starting problems. Since I'm going with a new engine, I won't have any previous mileage to compare to. I'm guessing it will be similar mileage to that of a Toyota Prius....

Zwede uses the multiport setup and seems to be pleased with the results. He's got a very clean installation and good web site showing details.
