She still has the original (non working) radio in the dash, but no speakers.
I'm trying to decide which route to go. Get one that LOOKS original, and put a CD changer in the back? Just get something to go in the dash? or what?! And what kind of speakers to get? I want to be able to hear it with the top down while cruising.
Hi Liz!
I used a late model head unit as my bezel was already cracked. You have to cut it to fit any radio into the dash unless you use a Custom Autosound unit and they have a bad rep here. They do have a unit based on the Kenwood 3006 which I have in my 68 Bonnie and am happy with. The advantage of the 3006 is that it has a CD stacker control for the Kenwood stacker and the current units are still compatible. If you want to keep the stock look you can set up a location in the rear for the head unit and leave the stock radio in the dash. Here are the pics of my setup. You may have to save the pic to get enough detail on the dash install.

I know where there is a 76 Holden Torana hatchback in Costa Mesa as well as a 63 Australian delivery Chev sedan with a 409 in it. Oh and a ex Japanese police RHD 240Z in San Jose. And I believe there are a fair few of the Ford Coupes like the one in Mad Max as well. Plenty to choose from!
Corvette Central had them for 72-76. Sorry, i couldn't find any thing for '68. It looks like it comes with a 230 watt Blaupunkt head unit, but it can probably be ordered with out through another distributor.
