Default New Bearings with new cam?

Is it necessary to put in new cam bearings with a new cam?

it's not absolutely necessary but if the engine is out now is indeed the time to replace them as a pre cautionary measure. If you want to save $$$ leave as is. Do inspect them, you may find something nasty and end up having to replace them anyway.

At least half of the time when I've worked on engines with low oil pressure, the lower side of the cam bearings is worn a good bit more than the top due to the constant pressure from the valvetrain. This opens the passages wider and drops the oil pressure. As long as it's out, swap 'em. It's not that big of a deal and could save you a teardown or worse later.
