Default I am getting SO frustrated:(

So I get my car back this after noon all excited to get it inspected and finally get a license plate on and inspection stickers. Well I stopped and got blinker bulbs before I picked her up because the left FRONT blinker didn't work and that is all I liked having her inspected. Well first thing the guy tells me when I pick her up is BAD NEWS. I was like WHAT THIS TIME. He said the socket and wiring for your right front blinker is totally gone. I am so PISSED. That guy who owned it was the biggest MORON ever. I AM SO MAD. NOW I am going to have to FIND this blinker socket and wiring I am sure I will have to order it ARGHhhhhhhhh

Were the wires just cut off? or was it unplugged somewhere? Were you able to get it inspected anyway?

No, I can't get it inspected Don't know anyone around here that would inspect it like that. I don't know I think the whole wires for that are missing. I KNOW NOTHING about wires!!!

It maybe that you could find something to help you at the junkyard, not sure if anything would fit into the same bulb hole. The wiring is not to complex. Just remember that when you have your turn signal on with the headlight turned on there is a seperate bulb that comes on below the amber one(If all of it is missing) It just depends on what is gone. It might be good to check some more wiring on your car. You may be able to use the other side of the car for an example. If you need a picture let me know and I'll try to email ya one (I also have an 80) Good Luck!

Don't panic. GM shared a lot of parts -- like sockets -- among many vehicles. You'll be able to find it. There's GOT to be someone in Wichita Falls that can help...

all you need is an 1157 turn signal socket at any parts house. Just cut the existing wires and splice the new one in. Should only take a few minutes. They also sell splices and splice tool for about 10 bucks if you don't already have one.

Yeah, you should be able to pick up a suitable replacement. I'm pretty sure those aren't Corvette specific parts.

Hopefully Bubba just tucked the whole darn thing away somewhere and you can find it. That happened with my blower motor. Didn't work. Come to find out the wires were there, but not hooked up. Duh!

You think "you" had a MORON work on YOUR Vette My wirering was sooooo screwed up it's a miracle I was able to drive it 900mi home without bursting into flames.
I wish my problems were as easy as a socket. BTW..those sockets are available. I think I bought them from Zip
Good luck
Eddie

Kara, you should just move north of the red river. No vehicle inspections up here, no front license tags, and no emissions testing.

Sockets for a #1157 bulb are less than $10. Any auto parts store will have one.

Default Socket

Kara, Hi there, I own a 1981 and I just replaced the socket on the drivers side in the front. I got mine from Advance Auto Parts. It came as a unit with wires. You'll just have to wire it to the existing wires that are there, if you still have wires there.

Kara, If it makes you feel better, I just found out yesterday that I need to order every wiring harness in the car to complete my job right ($1300+) - for the same reason - things cut, etc...
Good luck!

Here lately auto zone has been more helpful than advance in my area. Somebody beat me to the picture, but their advice and picture was better than I could have done. Good Luck, looks like your on the way to an inspection now.
I think we all need to move to that no inspection, no emission area. They charge you $30 here just to tell you if the check engine bulb is on. There soon going to get to the point around here to check your radio backlight for a saftey inspection. Somebody is getting some money around here
