Another couple questions...
First the history:
Refitting a '68 427...The fuel tank has been half full and stagnant for the last 9 years, but did have a bottle of stabilizer in it. It sat in a cool, dark basement warehouse that whole time. The fuel smells fine, but I plan on draining the tank anyway. I expect there to be a fair of debris in there, though. This is my first engine "build", so I'm not sure the best way to do things...
What I've got:
I've got a brand new Holley 3310c that I want to plumb to the GM mech. fuel pump. I also got a 100 micron screen-type filter from Earl's thinking it would be good for initial filtration. So far, that's all I've got.
Though, I planned on the typical Holley dual-feed fuel "rail" to supply the carb with gas.
What else do I need?
Another filter? How fine? I like high quality, reusable stuff...
In-line pressure gauge? Before or after filtration?
Fittings/tubing...rigid, braided, or rubber?
Regulator?
I would run a filter before and after the pump for a short while just to catch all the stuff from the tank before it gets in the pump and the filter after the pump will catch anything that has developed over the years. Might even buy a new stock pump, they are pretty cheap but do run a filter after it for while, I caught a bunch of rubber and gunk coming out a new pump. hard line or braided is prefered although I have been running soft for years.
EDIT: Filter 'should' be after the pump but again I differ, I have run a filter back near the tank for years with no problems.
I have the same question... The previous owner put in a Holley dp carb. It is plumbed with rubber hose, brass "T" and "L" fittings. To me, it looks like a fire waiting to happen. At car shows, I have seen complete anodized lines with integral fuel filter. I now that this can be fabricated, but does any vendor make an "out of the box" setup? I would like hard lines from the fuel pump to the carb with the metal fuel filter. All I can find on-line are the "rails" for the carb.
The pic shows Edelbrock/Russell fittings but I would imagine the Russell people can help you with Holley equipment as well. Jeg's has a good outline of the offerings and a link to the Russell site.
I'm heavily leaning toward Aeroquip fittings and hoses since I can get it at cost.
Here's where I stand (In order from the pump to the carb):
5/8-18 inverted flare to -6 AN Aeroquip adapter
-6 AN hose fitting
-6 hose
-6 AN hose fitting
Earl's 230106 (-6) bronze cartidge filter
-6 AN to -6 AN Aeroquip female swivel adapter
-6 Aeroquip in-line pressure gauge adapter & Earl's gauge
-6 AN to -6 AN Aeroquip female swivel adapter
-6 AN to 5/8-18 inverted flare Aeroquip adapter
Holly 34-160 fuel rail
I'm somewhat undecided where I should put the pre-filter; before or after the pump. I think it's a good idea to protect the pump. On the other hand, I'm not so sure a diphragm pump can really be hurt by the minute crap in the line. Then there's filter access and maintenance...

There is a rubber line from the tank to the steel line so I just put 2 new lines in and added a high flow filter in betweem, good time to replace it anyways if you don't know how old it is.
