Default Alternator questions

Thinking of getting a new chrome alternator since the new motor will be going in soon. Any recomendations for a good reliable, good looking alt? Need a 3 wire.

Thanks

Joe

I went with a 100 amp Powermaster from Summit racing and it works well. You can hook it up the old way or even one wire if you wish. It cost me around 120 dollars I believe the part number was a 17294.

I got a 140amp powermaster from summit. The regulator went bad after 6 months, but it was under warranty and I was very happy with the customer service I recieved. I would buy another one if I needed one

I am wanting to do the same thing and had a question about 100 amp alt. Would there be an concerns about frying wires with a 100 amp? I have heard that can be a problem for 140 +amp types.
Here is a link to a site that has chrome Alt. decent prices too.

I have heard that also about the wiring, but have not had any problems yet. I just checked the distance to the battery and the wire gauge going there. Then I compared these to a chart I found online about the amount of current travelling and the distance to the battery and made sure my charging wire was the correct gauge.
