ok, i'm back again, looking for more answers! isnt that what life is all about? haha
ok, so who uses their C3 as a daily driver? i just got my 75 and i do! i am just wondering what i should look for or if there were any modifications/additions to your car that make it "all the more better".
as for my car, here it is now....
it needs a paint job. it looks good from about 10-15 feet, but when you get up on it its weathered...but in any case i am getting it painted. now is where the decision comes in. do i just repaint it the same as it is or do i go different? i am really in love with a bright bold yellow color, i guess like the one at the top of the page. my concern is, how would yellow look with a red interior? anyone else use this color combo? also concerned how the wheel flares would look being all a solid color. thinking black for where it is the gray color now.... i need input! am i building a nasty vette? or would it look good?? i guess i am wondering if anyone else has used that paint/color scheme and how did it turn out? any pix??
Well I use my C3 as a daily driver, and am in the same boat as you: in need of paint.
Personal taste- I see too damn many yellow vettes these days. Although mostly C5's. I've seen a few with red interior, and it looks OK, but black looks much better. I think the silver/black combo would look better. The yellow/black combo could be cool. I will be doing mine in black mettalic when it comes that time (it needs it, but I'm doing the engine/tranny upgrades first). That is just my opinion- it is worth exactly what you paid for! :-)
Black is great, I think vettes look real sharp in black. BUT, I have a black vette and a black pickup truck. I will never ever ever ever ever have a black car as a daily driver again. Too much of a pain to keep the dirt, grime, and swirl marks away. Shows parking lot dings too badly too.

Well, I have 3 cars and all of them are black.
Then again, I drive my car more than I look at it, so it usually isn't that clean (on the outside).
There is a time and place to clean it- weekends right before cruising.
My car came black, and will stay black- just adding some metal flake- cus it should be
I love driving mine daily - except for rain <you know the quality of them wipers> Engine highly modified - with M21 4-speed. I try to stay off the highway - burns too much gas @ $2 + per gallon
Mine is also in need of paint - Bubba got something on the hood and took a can (closely matching - I must say) and sprayed the spot that messed up the paint. I will stay with the factory color of Medium Metallic Blue / Black deluxe interior.
Paint your car how you want it - you'll love it that way and won't second guess if you paint it different than what you preferred. My preference - I don't like yellow on anything... but who cares.
yeah, in terrenchal downpours it isnt the best car to drive, just bc the *** end seems like it just wants to break loose, and the wipers just dont go fast enough to really see! what an experience that was the 1st time i had to do that! i almost pulled over and waited it out. it was BAD!
is there a way to tell what color my car was when it came off the line? obviously it isnt original like it is now. and u can see some red paint(?) where the chrome meets the body in the t top area....
PigPen.... is that stock steering wheel? what kind? where'd u get it? how much should i expect to pay? i want something a little smaller that the stock wheel. i breifly looked at some online, but $400 for a steering wheel?! damn, i couldnt believe it!
That would be the infamous Vega wheel used in '76 Vettes also. Most don't like it because of that, but I think it's special because of that, and I want to keep it all original. My mother had it since 77 and everything is still intact. I wouldn't put it on one that didn't come with though. I don't believe it's an easy swap either way, and you may need the whole column. The tele hub is different than others. There are threads on this, search the archives for 1976 steering wheel, Vega steering wheel,...
I haven't used my C3 as a daily driver in almost 10 years. If I was going to start again I'd probably look into an EFI conversion, convert the A/C to R134a (my old R12 system needs a charge so it doesn't work), and fix all the little things that don't bother me on a weekend only cruiser such as the crappy stock stereo, power antenna needs fixed, interior needs some work.
As for colors, I don't think the McDonalds color scheme of yellow on red would look good. Black paint on red interior looks great for a show car or weekend play thing, but I'd be afraid of how hard it would be to keep it looking nice in a daily driver. Red on red is just too much red for me. Actually, I don't like red paint at all, and I've had a couple red cars.
Yup!! Yellovette's the name, yellow's my game. My 79's just a toy, and just being finished after a 3 year stint. It left the factory yellow, then was repainted white. The interior was "Oyster" which looked just gross when I bought the car. I chose the 2000' Mazda 5 yellow for the exterior, and changed the entire interior to the "Doeskin" (tan) colour.
The car gets a lot of attention and thumbs up from everyone. The only downfall from my perspective, is that the bugs love it, and seem to be trying to reproduce with it.

yeah i would def consider black, but as an everyday car? i'd be washing...errrr... needing to wash it EVERY other day.
and i agree, red-on-red is too much red! haha
mcdonalds.... haha, never thought of it like that! "mcdonalds, I'M LOVIN IT".... kind of appropriate

First thing that came to my mind is "hotdog stand" . . . I'd go with whatever you like, but seriously question the taste of yellow on red I like silver myself and am thinking of redoing mine in silver when the time comes, but I won't go with the stock silver. . . Want something with metal fleck myself. Of course with a red inerrior, well I don't know what to match it with other than black . . .
