Steering wheel for 76
I understand the 76 had a one year only steering wheel called a Vega wheel.
Is it actually the same steering wheel as the Vega?
Most importantly, what after market steering wheel will replace this with minimal mods? I'd like to go with a Grant or similar.

I believe that the aftermarket wheels that fit other year Vettes will work. The problem with our '76's is that you will loose the telescoping option if you have it.
Oh, and I don't think of it as a Vega wheel. I just tell the Vega owners (are there any still around?) that they are lucky enough to have a Vette wheel on their cars.
I think the same wheel was also used on the Camaro that year.

The following two papers that are posted on Terry Rudy's Corvettefaq.com websight give a pretty good outline as to exactly what can be adapted to replace the one year only steering wheel on the 1976 Vette T&T steering column.
In a nutshell, the 1976 steering column is identical to the 1969 through 1975 steering columns. However, the "Vega" steering wheel, horn parts, hub, and telescope hardware are unique to that one year. As the two following papers indicate, if you can adapt an earlier or a later steering wheel and telescope hardware to the 1976 steering column, you should be able to adapt other steering wheels that are available for the various C3 models.
