Well one of the Tubes coming from the Transmission to the cooler(not sure if it is intake or not) got punctured somehow and I need to replace it. It is a metal tube with alot of bends in it. I am having trouble getting i off of there and was wondering if anyone who may have been down this road before has any suggestions for replacing it. Also Does anyone know where I can get a replacement, or do I need to get one made and bent? I looked for one online, but did not find one, maybe I do not have the right terminology for the part. Does anyone know what this tubes is called? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Steve
Sounds like your describing the transmission cooling lines. If one suddenly leaked the other may not be too far behind. Try Ecklers or some of the other vendors here.
Those are pretty low pressure lines so a splice would work if you can cut a small section out. Use high pressure fuel line and clamps to avoid wearing through the rubber splice.
not the safe way, use metal and find out how it rubbed and fix
BUT my cooling lines were attached to the radiator by short lengths of rubber hose utilizing hose clips. It looked like it had been that way for many years. Additionally, my BTO install involved temporarilly fixing a filter in one of the transmission cooling lines by using...... rubber hose & hose clamps (obviously the hose has to be rated for trans fluid). So..... if rubber hose is used to connect the metal cooling lines to the radiator, then why couldn't it be used to fix a break in the metal lines ie cut out the damaged part & use hose to join the two pipes together as Fevre suggested? Or has Bubba been at my Vette & the metal cooling lines should connect directly to the radiator?
Could aeroquip type hose (braided) be used instead of normal hose so that it's protected from wear/scuffing?
