According to Edelbrock, if you lay a straightedge across the carb mounting pad from front to back, and measure from the end seal surfaces up to the bottom of the straightedge, there are 3.74 inches in the front and 4.8 inches in the rear.
"Who's got 'which' intake manifold under 'what' hood?"
If we get enough members to post their combinations, we'd have an impressive list.....
Just my $.02 worth.
My experience is that an Edelbrock Performer will fit under a stock 68-72 hood, and an Edelbrock Performer RPM series intake won't. Some guys here have made RPM intakes fit, but not with the stock air cleaner.

Tried that once a couple of years ago. The thread wasn't sticky so it drifted away as people lost interest. It would make for an informative and educational FAQ, though.
The EPS is about a 1/4" taller than a 2101 which is supposed to be about 1/4 taller than stock.
The 73-79 med. rise hood allows the Victor Jr, RPM & others on SB w/ aftermarket dropbase filter & Holley.
The L-88 hi rise hood is only 7/8" higher than the 73-79 med. rise hood & allows a taller intake for BB.
It's best to look at the entire flow path incl. air filter, not just the intake.
What about with an air cleaner and the hood closed? I'm not trying to be a smart ***, either! I would just like to see a combo that works.
I'm workin on it.. it would help if you told me what carb you're running.. I might need to do some modding to my demon to get a top to fit.
I'll explore that on sunday.
I have a 79 with a stock L-48 hood and im running a performer RPM intake with a speed demon carb, and a drop base air cleaner, and it fits fine, i think you should have no problems at all

corz-For me to fit my speed demon on my performer rpm with stock l-48 hood, i got a basic specter drop base air cleaner at my local pepboys, and then all i had to do was cut two holes in it so that the nuts on top of the fuel bowl can go through them instead of proping up the air filter, then all i did was get some jb weld, a few pieces of aluminum, and some ductape to seal up the holes up and around the nuts, i also had to cut a bit out of the air cleaner to get the electric choke to fit, send me a pm if you want to know more about how to make it fit without messing with the carb itself
