Wanted to introduce myself, my name is Keith, I have a green 68 corvette convertable with a 427/390.
Then I wanted to ask the first of what I am sure will be a LOT of questions as I try to get this thing back to where it should be.
This one should be simple...I need an oil pressure gauge I think...mine just quit working. I also need a new hood release cable, or a creative idea on how to feed this one back through the housing...ok, thats it...pleasure to meet you all and hope you can help.
Make sure your oil pressure line isn't kinked anywhere. On 68's it's the old type of oil pressure gauge where the oil actually goes into the gauge. If it's kinked anywhere, it will cause the gauge to screw up. The line is plastic and very cheap and easy to replace, unlike the gauge. The gauge itself isn't too bad, just kind of a PITA, and any one of the vendors on the left sidebar that sell C3 parts will carry it. Can't give you any advise on the hood latch cable, but I am sure someone will! Welcome to the forum.
The oil guage wasnt working on my 69 when i bought it. The car was sitting for 15 or so years. I took the gauge off of the bezel and looked at the back of it. On mine, some corrosion formed between the teeth on the two mechanisms. I just moved the back by hand and it broke it loose and the gauge has worked fine ever since. You should replace your oil line while you are at it. It is probably very brittle and about to break. Once it does, oil will start spewing everywhere. Buy either a plastic or braided oil line to replace it, not the copper one. Oh yeah, make sure not to grab the needle to try to unfreeze the guage. The needles are very brittle and will break with the slightest pressure.
Make sure the oil ine is not plugged before you invest in a gauge. All kinds of sludge builds up in 35 years. You might just need to unhook it and blow it out w/some compressed air.

Welcome! You'll get lots of great advice here.
When I replaced my broken hood latch cable I used only the cable & handle and fed it thru the old bracket. The bracket attaches with 2 bolts way up under the interior dash. I crawled under there and could barely feel around for it with my fingers let alone see the F'n thing. So I just fed the cable thru the existing bracket and used a cable stop at the end.
