Default Down to the wire Paint desision

Ok my 71 vert is at the painting stage, I have till tuesday to make a final desion on color of paint
I am down to two choices.
Red or black
They have it in a base color for final going over body which is black right now. Don't quote me if the correct term is base color or what it actually called.
I got to say its pretty impressive in dull black
It was red neither color is orginal.

I love the look of a black corvette, but keeping it looking good requires many hours a week. Red needs less attention and is more visable in traffic. Yellow is the most visible color so I say go with that.

I went black because there are so many red vettes out there. I am happy with my vette at this point. If you would like more pics email me and I have a few I can send you.

I'd go with black, there are too many red vettes out there. Of course if you plan on selling it soon, it's called resale red for a reason. Joe

i would never have another black car. I had a GN and would spend hours washing and waxing it, then take it around the block for a quick test run and it would look nasty from the dust. Its just not practical unless you want to wipe it down evertime you go somewhere.

I've had two black cars. One in high school, and when I sold it I swore to myself I'd never have another. Then in '98 I bought a black C5. What a nightmare to keep it clean. When I got rid of it in '99 I again swore I'd never have another black car.

Let's see how long it takes me to forget again...

So, uhm, okay. I LOVE the looks of a black car! I just don't have it in me to clean the darned thing EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT!

Black is beautiful! I'm getting ready for a repaint and want black again. I want some ghost flames coming up the nose a little and moving back over the front fenders that can only be seen when up close.

Man, that's a tough one. I'm going to be going through the same thing next year...Red or Black. I'm leaning towards Red, basically because some of the reasons others have already stated (i.e. the amount of upkeep of Black). I had a Z28 that was Black and it was beautiful, but it showed dust, pollen, etc. after 30 minutes from finishing washing and polishing. I really like the brightness of Torch Red (without being Orange looking) on the C5s and might get my Vette painted Torch Red.

Tough choice, most Vettes are red or black to begin with so one is not particulaly rare verses the other. Black looks great but is a PITA to clean.
Nothing like a red Corvette to me.

Black is hard to clean and red is not as got-to-be as it once was. How about blue or gray or green or white?
