i really like the moroso oil pans that hold like 7 quarts, but im not sure if it will fit well with the limited clearance of a corvette. Any opinions on these pans, anyone running these, and if you are could you please let me know which one? Thanks sooo much!
I don't know about the Moroso oil pan, but I have one from Speedway Motors (1-402-323-3200) that holds 7 qt and is only 7.5" deep (no ground clearance issues at all). It is also gold irridated, has 6 trap doors, 3 crank scrapers, a semi-windage tray setup, and is only $179. Fits in frame beutifully and can even use a stock starter. No header problems either.
money..i think i might get that one..looks like a winner..i dont really like moving parts in my oil pan either, and considering i just bought a new oil pickup that fits a stock one, and this one works with the pan..it really sounds like a winner
I have the Moroso pn 20191 which is a 7qt kicked out sump with trap door, windage tray, and crank scraper. I have had no clearance problems, but I am also careful where I drive.
You can see the oil pan from the side of the car..
I'm really not sure but the Mr. Gasket oil pan is the same size and shape
as the stock oil pan.
It came with all the bolts and washers too.
I called J*g's to order mine after seeing it in their catalog. HTH.
The stock oil pan of a small block is only 7" deep. There seems to be a lack of proer depth oil pans on the market, even though most headers sets hang lower, I refuse to run a oil pan lower than 7" depth. I would have naightmares about splitting open my sump while driving with a deeper pan. Trans Dapt (Ed Hamburger's old oil pan company) makes a resonably good 7" deep pan along with Canton oil pans, I run the "road race" Canton oil pan but wish there was a bigger side recovery pocket like on some of their circle track pans.
