Any one touch up or repaint their flags? the flag on my center console is colorless, I want to paint it, but wondering the best way to go about it.
This might sound retarded, but I took mine to a salon that does ladies nails!! They have hundreds of colors and use a tiny airbrush. I clear-coated after and the end result looks great and will probably last for years!
Thats a great idea, never thought about that. I retouched mine using a paint pen purchased at a local arts and craft supply store. The paint is not really robust so it will take a couple of coats, but it holds up well. But the nail polish idea is slick..
I think that is one of the best suggestions I have ever heard!
I am going to try the nail salon thingy...any colors you recomend?
I don't know which flags you're doing. I did all four of my outside emblems (nose, gas lid, front fenders). I just took a picture from a Zip catalog in and matched it up.
By the way, some salons might look at you funny if you come in with car parts...find out where your wife/gf has hers done and go in with her Then she had no idea how much to charge me so I just said how about 40 bucks (canadian) for all of em.
I like the nail enamel, but I think you'd get a better end result by flowing the paint into the depressions with a needle, toothpick, or 4/0 brush. "Load" the needle with a small drop of paint and touch it to the desired depression to transfer it. It will create a perfectly smooth meniscus, just like from the factory.

You could try using model paints from a hobby shop and a 00 or 000 brush. I'd give the emblem a good wash first with soap and water, make sure all the soap residue is gone and let it air dry. Before painting, don't touch any area to be painted with your fingers as you'll leave a smear of oil on it.
Once the paint has dried for a day or so, you could flow some clear into it to protect the colours...
