Default induction hood question

I have a non-functional induction scoop on my vette and since i have to take the hood of to replace the radiator support i was goint to cut a hole in it. i was wondering if there is any special way to go about this, i just want to fit a three inch filter element... free horsepower right??

Don't cut it at all. It will gain you at most 5-10 HP. It's not worth wrecking a hood to get that little of a gain. JMO

I would go ahead and cut the hole. 10-20 hp could be a 10% increase on some smog engines! Besides it can help cool your engine as well. Good luck!
