I was driving my 76 and having a lovely time then sudenly my Tach went right in the red I could tell by my engine noise that my RPM had not change. When i slowed down to Hmm maybe 20 MPH it came back down and semmed to work as normal. When i go on the highway it has done this a few times. Does anyone know what it could be and how hard to fix.

you may want to look at the tach connection at the distributor. That coming loose can do that..
