Default 1969 Left side dash removal question

Do the speedo and tach come out with the dash, or are they removed separately...?

They come out with it. It is a pain to get that side out though. You need to drop the steering column first. Then you need to disconnect all the wiring and cables that go to the tach and speedo. Dont forget about the light switch either. The bulbs for the speedo and tach are all individual so you need to pop each one off separately. Oh yeah, the dash needs to come off too. I had to bend my dash up at the center to get it out. I think that is what everyone else had to do also.

So, I guess I won't be removing the left side dash any time soon....

What I really want to do is replace the headlight switch. How difficult is this to do without removing the dash...?

I dont think you can get to it from underneath. But you should be able to get to it if you take the upper dash off.

Take off the left kick panel, the three screww along the top of the dash panel and the two on the center cluster (those face toward the driver's dash) Now you can pull the das out far enough to get to the light switch from the side. Sounds easy ....... NOT

Thanks Larry....I just may give it a try today. All my dash lights are out, that's what I'm trying to correct.

If ALL of the dash lights are out, I would suspect a blown fuse. There is a fuse for intstrument lights.

I couldn't replace my light switch on my 73 without dropping the steering column to give me room to pull the dash forward. This is not a job I want to do on a regular basis.
