Default Reflectix and carpet project

I've got the carpet coming from Willcox and gave up on trying to find Dynomat. Found REFLECTIX yesterday at Dixieline along with the obligatory foil tape at the same price LOWES advertises, but without having to fight thru everyone in the world in the Lowes store!

Started pulling the carpet ...couple of interesting issues: The rear molding behind drivers seat, along the door holds in the interior trim that covers the upper seat belt retractor. Pass. side came right out, was screwed in. Drivers side is riveted in and I've broken two drill bits already trying to drill the darn rivets out! And there's no way to do the job without pulling that piece. More later.

Next: it looks like two different carpet types were in the car. The rear has dark carpet that's turned greenish over the years, but under the trim where there was no sun exposure, it is clearly dark Buckskin. ... The front area under the seats and footwells, is clearly light Buckskin. Now, the rear of the carpet had a tag attached under it that was dated 1976 and had a part number of the carpet on it. The forward part that's light color, had the same date code and part number on it, but the tag looked a couple of decades newer.

Would they have made the car with dark Buckskin on the rear storage area and lighter brown on the floors?

Yea but I just got thru pulling all the carpet. The front pieces CLEARLY show a DOB of 12/1976 and have the same manufacturer as the rear carpet.

WOW it sure was a lot more work than I thunk

I'm a lookin' for that digital cam.
