my rims came in cragar ss classics ordered 15x8 for front and 15x10 for rear. rims will not fit, tried spacers rims still wil not fit and rear rims stick out about 3'' from fender. i know some of you guys have the same rims. this is an 80 vette any help woud be greatly appreciated.
i have 15x8 on all four tires-235-60 and fender well is pretty full. i would think if you are putting 15x10 on rear it will probably hang out,but this is just my opinion.
Check out VBP, they have wheel ADAPTERS, you need wheel adapters not spacers, spacers are very bad becuase they decrease the amount of thread on your studs that is being used to hold the wheel in place. With VBPs adapters i was able to mount 17 by 11 rims with 315 tires!!!

DID YOU HAVE TO DO ANY OTHER MODS TO MAKE THEM FIT, WHAT YEAR IS YOUR VETTE? WHAT RIMS ARE YOU USING? WHAT ADAPTERS ETC. THANKS, KEITH

I didnt have to do any other mods to make them fit, i used VBPs 3 inch wheel adaptor, because my new rims were C4 style and had a lot of backspacing, they only stick about an inch now. My corvette is a 79
Edit: Im not 100% what brand my rims are, because we bought them at the swap meet at bloomington gold
Heres a pic

iceman
What offsets did you get on the rims. Frt & Back. Where is the rim hitting the caliper? On the spokes or on the dish? Do you have offset in the rear? Do you have a rear sway bar?

no sway bar i have no idea what dealer ordered what i'm trying to find out is what i need for an 80 c3 i just want to fit as fat a tire as possible under the rear. i was told 295/50/15 would fit on a 15x10 rim but i am having absolutly no luck. the car is stock right now. the rims are hitting on the dish. i'm sure i have the wrong offset just trying to find out what to order. i'm a novice and need help! i appreciate any info you could give me i'll punt on this local dealer if neccessary i think he is disgusted dealing with it. we've got spacer in and still no go. we've been real nice about it were both just lost. i really like the cragar ss rim and would like to stay with them. rreall did not want the tire sticking out of fender either i live in a rural community with lots of gravel driveways and don't want paint chipped by rocks caught in tires.

Just do 8" or 9" Torque-Thrust II's and be done with it. They look very similar (better, IMO) to the S/S and you won't need adapters.
If you're absolutely set on the S/S, you'll need to get the adapters mentioned above and compensate for the additional width from them by increasing your backspace by the thickness of the adapter.
For an example, IF the adapter is 1" thick and standard backspace is 4", you'll need a wheel with a 5" backspace to keep your fenders happy. All that assumes you haven't exceeded the factory width, which you seem intent on doing. To keep the tires under your fenders, you have increase the backspace even MORE to account for that added width. By now, you've got 6" of backspace to make everything fit inside the fender. HOWEVER, you run the risk of interfering with the suspension in cases like that.
Plus-sizing wheels is all about compromise and careful measurement.
I've Decided To Punt On The Cragars If The Dealer Will Take Them Back Toooooo Much Trouble For The Effect. Decided To Go With Intro Custom Wheels For Just A Few More Bucks And Get What I Want.
