Ok, I am changing the rear diff. fluid on Saturday. Sould I get the GM addative for limited slip? The bottle of mobil 1 synthetic claims to have addative in it. Also Autozone had limited slip addative that is supposedly GM approved.
Should I still get the GM addative (from GM)? I think I have heard I should stick with GM, but what can those who have done this tell me?
I have about 40,000 miles on the Mobil 1 diff oil in my Vette. I put it in straight, no additives and have had no problems. The posi still works fine. Did you do your 5 tight 360 degree turns in both directions after the oil was changed?
Yeah, mine has started making noise recently. May have something to do with all the autocrossing (not to mention empy parking lot autocross "practice") I've been doing.
I think I will go for the mobil 1, if noise persists drain a little out and add the GM additive.
If that doesn't help it will have to wait for October I'll pull apart the rear end.
Kevin, my clutches were chattering when turning corners. That is why I changed the oil. The new oil (and the tight turns to work it into the clutches) solved the problem.
