My AR Racing motor should be here within the week (fingers crossed) its going in my 76.....here are the specs and a pic: 383 ci, 10.3:1 cr, edelbrock rpm aluminum heads with a port job, steel crank, keith black pistons, edel 750 carb with rpm intake, .520 lift cam with 1.6 roller rockers, 440 hp @ 5800 rpm, 448 tq @ 5100 rpm. anyone else do a similar install with there c3?.....Advice?
I just installed my AR 383 a couple of weeks ago, it's not quite ready to run yet, but very close. I was originally going to order the same motor you have but decided on something even more radical. I told Mark I wanted something in the 500hp range and he said he had the perfect combo: 383ci, 10.5:1 compression, Canfield aluminum 200cc heads ported and bowls blended, Comp Cams hydraulic roller cam (I believe it was the 288HR), 1.6 roller rockers, completly forged bottom end from Eagle and Weiand Team G intake. I added the Speed Demon 750 for my carb. Mark said he had dynoed this combo before at 525hp@6200rpm. Hopefully I might have it running by the weekend
I purchased a 383/Dart from Mark at AR a little while ago. Mine made it to the local Yellow Freight depot in 6 days. Hopefully, it will be a strong runner when I get it installed. I have a another project I'm finishing up and then I'm going to drop it in along with a new Monster Motorsport street/strip TH 400.
It seems like quite a few people on this forum have engines from AR and are very pleased with them. I only recall reading one post that was negative.
Have fun.
Tim

I'd run a Holley or BG not the edel 750 i read about some weird tuning problems with it and that may be why they cam out with a 800

Just curious, how long did it take to get your motor? I ordered/payed in January and haven't taken receipt yet. Your combo is almost exactly what I ordered except I got an RPM Air Gap intake and 6" rods.
I've got one of their motors. I've got mixed feelings about it. Runs great actually but it's still burning a little oil and the harmonic balancer exploded on it a few months ago. And I'm not the only one that that's happened to. I'd suggest putting on an SFI certified balancer. Mine has run MUCH smoother with a good balancer on it now.
Seems you ordered one of their pre-made engines. Hopefully you'll have better luck getting it in a timely manner. I, and many others here lately, have waited months after Mark said it would be ready to receive our engines. Mark is good about answering just about any question but they take forever to get anything done. I think they've gotten more business then they can handle the past few years.
Mine was a 383, canfield alum heads, .570 lift, 238 dur. solid flat tappet cam....specs are on my website. Anyways, he said the first motor he built with this combo and a single plane intake with 2in spacer dyno'd at just over 500hp/500tq. Mine dyno'd on the chassis at 332rwhp@5200 and 412lb-ft@3600 which puts it at about 415hp/515lb-ft at crank. But I'm using a RPM dual plane intake which is limiting hp. I've got a Torker intake I'll be putting on it soon and see if it will help it breath a little better and make some more power. Hopefully I won't loose much if any torque. All in all I think I got a pretty good engine for under $3500.
