I rebuilt the valve for my power steering and upon startup, I sprung a massive leak. It seems to be coming from the stud that bolts to the relay rod???? WTF did I do wrong? Should I take it off and rebuild again? The first time I started it all the PS fluid leaked onto the floor and I think I may have overfilled the Pump. So I refilled the pump to proper level and it only leaked a little bit, slow drips....anyone have any experience with this or advice to lend I would appreciate comments.
Thanks
I can't tell you for sure what you did wrong but I can tell you what happened to me. I suspect that the adjustement was out and you blew a seal. I had a leaker on a car I bought so I bought a rebuilt unit. I installed it and had basicly the same problem as you. I contacted Van Steel a supporting sponsor they set me up with a rebuilt valve with a 5 year gaurantee. Their valves are quality rebuilds. The Corvette parts resellers buy the cheapest ones they can find give you a year gaurantee if it lasts a year your lucky. The greif taking one on and off imakes it worth getting a quality rebuilt unit. Van Steel not only rebuilds them but they pressure check them and do the adjusting on them so it is install and go. They also told me to drain the system of old fluid and use ONLY power steering fluid not auto trans fluid. I hope this helps believe me they do quality work. The rebuilt I got from them even had the rock guard which the orginal and the first rebuilt on my car did not. I hope this helps talk to them even if you choose to re-rebuild your own valve they can tell what to look for .
I attempted a rebuild of mine. It still leaked and balancing the thing was a PITA.
I bought a new unit which was already factory balanced. Have had no problems.

I think you are right, I probably blew a seal. I hooked it up incorrectly to begin with, having the ram arm bolted to the bracket on the frame. This is a . So tonight I will rebuild it or try to with it on the car and hopefully just replace or fix the o rings and see what happens.
I took it apart last night, turns out one of the o rings is completely broken, the other is pretty flattened out on one side. Would this be enough to cause a leak?
