I was thinking of purchasing a Edelbrock Thunder Series AVS. I currently have a Holley 600cfm. I was discussing my engine with a "old gearhead" and he used this for two street/strip applications and loved them. Is anyone using an AVS on their setup? Do you like it? How about a Demon carb?
hmmm... does anyone have recommendations for a better carb? We all can't be running Holley's 600 CFM. My calculations show my motor "only needs" 530 cfm for Volumetic Efficiency.........
I have an edelbrock performer on my 1964 corvette-600 cfm and I really like it. I originally bought it for my 1972 corvette, but the power valve blew out on my '64. I've had it on ever since. I think the '64 could use a little more fuel, but I like the way it runs.
I have the AVS on an Edelbrock manifold. I originally had the q-jet on there with an adapter, but i was having starting problems and fuel delivery problems. So instead of rebuilding the carb I bought a new one. Now i have much better hood clearance and the car is running much better. Easy starts and more power.
go to barrygrant.com and check out their smaller sized demons. I've got a 650cfm speed demon that flows something liek 770 right out of the box. I know they make smaller carbs too. I've owned quadrajets, 3 holley 650's, and an edelbrock performer. I bought the demon a few months ago, I'll never touch another carb.
