I have an offer for anyone who's interested. If COMP honors their warranty and sends another XE268 cam/lifter kit to me, I'll sell it at a discount.
I guess i failed to mention that the problem with my lifter bores was too much wear resulting in to much lifter side play(the lifters rotated VERY freely in the oversized bores). If this happens it can neutralize the taper of the cam and no lifter rotation occurs.

Damn Nastee, I hate to hear that! I have a Comp XR276HR (roller) that I will be installing soon. I hope I don't have any problems with it!

I have it in a 355 (see sig). I know that cam would love a 383 also.

I suppose anything's possible. The lifters were rotating freely but I didn't detect any rocking in the bores. I'll see with this next cam. If I have the same problems I'll probably get a custom forged , roller shortblock done and add all my top end stuff to it.

Just break it in "by the numbers" and add some insurance in the way of some type of oil additive, anything you can do to assist the cam in living thru the process.

nastee383:

I used Isky "back in the day" and never got a bad one - I've used Crane the last 2 times & have had no problem with them either.

I've been told that if you are needing vacume (for lights, wipers, etc.) that you should not get the 112 lobe center, but at least a 114 lobe center or even a 115 in order to make enough vacume to operate everything.

Just my .02 cents.
Good luck

Also found that to be true, the pushrods were not rotating on the lifters that were not rotating.

What method do you use to check for pushrod rotation? Do you rotate the motor by hand, bump the motor or run it with the valve covers off and observe for rotation? I just want to make sure I cover all the bases this time.
