Default Another Dumb Brake Question

Here's my problem, the rotor's on my 74 have five holes drilled in them yet I can't take the rotor's off the car. How do you tell if the rivet is still in place? I've never worked with 74 rotor's before. The emergency brake cables have been released at the backing plate, so they can't be what's keeping the rotors for coming off. Does anyone have pictures of the rotors before and after the rivets are removed? Thanks Guys for all your help.

Sorry no pictures but if the rivet heads are gone thats good you need to back off the emergency brake shoes to get the hubs off.

Good Luck Virgil

Hi

Releasing only the brake cable is not enough.

You also need to unscrew the emergency brake adjuster.
This is done through the 2 extra holes on the bottom of the discs ( rotors ).
See the adjustment procedure in the CHILTONS manual and just do the opposite of this.

Good luck. Gunther.
