I've just had a tyre burst on my 'vette and am having trouble finding replacements (being in the UK doesn't help). The tyres on the car are Goodyear Eagle GTs with the outlined white letters. Problem is I can't find any for sale anywhere, not even on US sites. Now, is there another name for these other than Eagle GT (what's written on the tyre in white)? Have they been discontinued or what?
There are a few other tyres I could get to fit, but the other 3 are hardly worn at all and in great shape. I really don't want to have one odd tyre when I have white letters. And I can't afford to replace all 4, especially considering the other ones are so good.
The tyres were on the car when I got it so I've no idea where they originally came from or how long they've been on the car.
At the moment the best thing I can think of is get a GT II which only comes in full white letters and paint the letters on my GTs so bar the II they'll match.
they stopped making the Eagle GTs a while ago. I had 4 on my 68 when I bought it but I gave them away not too long ago, probably not your size anyway. (What size do you need?).

I was worried that they had...
I need 255/60/15s.
I've noticed though that they do GT IIs in an outline white letter version. If I got one of those the only difference would be the 'II', which isn't a big deal. I was under the impression that they only came in full white letter which would look poor when the rest of the car was outline.
Now...just need to find a place in the UK that can get me a GT II OWL...
I hate how expesive stuff over here is...tirerack.com have BF Goodrich Radial T/As for $74 each. Cheapest I've found over here work out at $196 each
I'll bet those tires are at the very least 10 years old. My car had that same tire installed on it in 1982. You should be careful with your tires. At 10 or more years old, they begin to break down and can become very dangerous.
To me, it would be worth it to shell out the $$$ for all 4 new tires. I have BFGoodrich Radial T/A 255/60/15's on my car and I have no second thoughts about taking the car to 80 miles per hour or even higher. When I had the Eagle GT's, I wouldn't go over 50.
