Default 350 stump puller

I have a 76 w/ 3.36 gears and a 350 turbo trans

this is what the previous owner did to my engine:

edlebrock torker II single plane intake...no good till 2500 rpm
isky .05 lift 244/244 duration... no good till 2800 rpm
750 edlebrock performer carb
new/stock lower w/ 8.5:1 compression

this is for a circle track car!!!!

this is what i want to do:
dual plane intake........suggestions?
new cam...................suggestions?
10.0:1 flat top pistons...maybe new rods?
600-650 carb.........?

keep in mind i want torque.............maybe a 383 stroker kit would be cool

thanks
Rob

If you want torque - 383 will definitely give you that. I 'm in that process right now. Should have the motor back in the next couple of weeks.

If you just wanted to freshen up what you have for now, I's throw on a Performer intake and Comp Cams 262 or 268 grind.

The carb is fine. If you do wnat to get rid of it, I'd be willing to swap my Edelbrock for your 750....

I used an Eagle FORGED stroker kit and 6 inch I beam rods. Lotsa TORQUE! 10:1 compression and a Crane flat tappet Hyrdraulic cam with 1.6 roller rockers.

The difference between the OEM L-48 and the Stroker is amazing. Night and Day!

That is very similar to the cam I am running. I have 10.1 compression and I feel the cam is a little much in my car. It really comes on from 3000 to 7000 and I run the LT1 dual plane intake. That cam in a 383 with decent compression and a Victor Jr will go right at 500 HP with very good torque. That is my future plans to keep the top end of the motor just go 383

tpi is great for torque, and vortec heads are a great and very cheap way to torque good luck

For a 350 stump puller, you could use the Edelbrock EPS intake or 2101, Comp Cams 260H or XE-256. You don't state exhaust, may need upgrading. That would get you more what you want for now. Then you could do a 383.

The motor Ganey just mentioned is the type I've been "going to get to" for the past few years. Original 350,260H cam, S/R Torquer heads,2101, and Q-jet with 2.5" exhaust. I'm guessing it will be around 300hp but not sure about torque? It will be used with a modified th400 and 308 gear.

As Gary knows have been rec. this to those who want a mild setup w/ stock auto. & several on the forum have done it & are very happy. Conservative estimate of HP 300 (312 w/ 2.02/1.60) w/ headers.
TQ near 400.

ive got the 2.02 sportsman CI heads
2" headers into side pipes, no crossover yet.

if i get 300hp/400ftlbs tq that would be good.

im leaning towards this:
performer EPS intake
260H comp cam
and
9.5:1 or 10.0:1 flat top pistons.......stock 8.5:1 in car now.

anyone else want to add to this?

thanks

Idle to about 5500.
Stock heads are 76cc & Sportsman have smaller chambers so your C/R is higher than stock.
XE-262 subtracts some low rpm torque that you said you wanted & adds some HP over the XE-256.

which do you prefer the 260h or the xe256?

i was told that the XE cams ramp faster for more torque..

thanks

Your Sportsman heads have large 200cc intake ports so you could use more exhaust flow so the XE-256 w/ more exhaust duration would work for you.

my friend is planning on putting a sbcc i na cj7 he wants to buy and it is my job to put together the motor for really cheap.
I have been working on desktop dyno a bit and here is the combo im thinking of using

350 short block, 8.5 to 1 compression, just refreshen factory components.
vortec heads, bowl blending, pocket porting, and port matching possibly with roller rockers later on
truck avenger cam and carb from edlebrock
edlebrock performer intake manifold

with this combo desktop dyno is telling me he will have 400ft/lbs till 4000rpm, and its perfectly flat till then, then it just drops off, not sure on hp, but it is not much.

now thats a torque motor, after seeing that i though, hey i might want to do that for my vette instead of a high horsepower motor, but i wont.

my motor is stock apart from weiand intake manifold, headers and duals,
it's a daily driver, often in heavy traffic,
thanks guys,
