Due to an unfortunate accident, I must now repaint my 73 roadster. It is currently painted candy apple red and I bought it that way. I was considering changing to the original colour which is Code 953 metallic yellow but I don't much care for the colour ( at least what I have been able to see on the net ). I am looking for opinions on the importance of maintaining the original colour should I decide to sell the car at some time in the future?? Also...has anyone out there seen a metallic yellow vette and if so what do you think of the colour?? Is it similar to warbonnet yellow?
Thanks for your help.
I've got a white 73 and I have mixed feelings about the color. A lot of people say it's "classy" looking, but I always detect a note of sympathy... know what I'm saying?
If I paint my car, I'll go with the Corvette 50th anniversary red. It's beautiful - looks like a merlot. Yellow Vettes are quite striking too, especially with a glossy paint job. But it's an aggressive color so reselling it will be a little more difficult.
Don't forgot to post the pics! Are you doing it yourself or having it done?
Well if you plan to keep the car forever, or pass it down to a son/friend which you should! then color it what ever color you want!
But if you do plan to sell it then original color would not hurt it's value as much as another but not by alot, and by the way Yellow is a outstanding color! I know this sounds stupid but in person it looks 100 times different than a picture!
