Few months ago these were a hot topic. Called Hi-Perf wholesalers only to find they're on back-order again.
If you installed a set, how was the fit and finish?
Pics?
Thanks.
Finish was excellent. Fit was very good although there was some tweaking to be done with the sidepipe mounting tabs--nothing out of the ordinary seeing as how they're "universal" to may years of Corvettes.

Installed a set of SS Hooker Sidepipes on my 71 SB convertible a couple of months ago. Fit was good after a bit of fiddling with side tube bolt holes. Side tube finish was awesome. I can't tell the diff with chrome. The headers were good but there are machine marks from the mandrel bending process, a little dissappointing. I will polish out the visible marks. As expected the SS is going yellow from heat close to the heads, no big deal(beats rust!!).
I went with the spiral turbo baffles(JCL's), great sound and easy fit. Made a huge difference to open pipes, WOW!!! I don't know how some of the members can run open pipes. I love loud cars but that was too much for me. I still had to take it around the block a few times with open pipes just for stamps
Cheers

Hooker Competition Headers part number 2456HKR fits 1955-82 corvettes of engine size 265-400. Part number 2456-1HKR is ceramic coated. Didn't see anything on the website about S/S, you might get some answers with a phone call.
After fighting my exaust all weekend installing the rear spring and strut rods I became more and more a side pipe supporter. I love the Big polished Hooker set up but are you asking for burnt calfs?? Does anyone make a coated side pipe that doesn't need a heat shield?

I had the same issues/ questions, but the durability of stainless was the deciding factor for me. The Boss(wife) supported the sidepipe idea providing passengers don't get burnt, so I purchased polished SS heat shields from STS (JCL's). I haven't installed them yet cause I'm in the middle of a complete rear end upgrade, but they look great. All the mounting hardware is SS also. Small hassle for the joy of sidepipes

I also forgot to mention in my previous post that I contacted Jethot and discussed heat and durability issues some members were having with their coatings. Apparently it is possible to exceed the operating temp of their coating when tuning(lean mix) or using superchargers and nitrous. My engine is very mild at the moment but I didn't want any hassles and the price wasn't much different so I went SS.
cheers

My car now sounds like God Almighty is unzipping his fly to take a leak. 1 3/4" primaries dumping into what is effectlvely a 4" diameter, 30-something-inch long megaphone will do that.
