I am curious how those of you driving 68 and 69 cars deal with the frequent (in my case) rock chips on the fenders, doors, and quarter panels. Although I do not drive on "rocky" roads, I am constantly finding new rock chips in the paint.
I need to have a crack in my fender repaired this fall and the issue of painting/clear coating has come up. Although I would like to do the entire car, it would kill me to do it, then fill it with chips again. Just curious how have the rest of you have dealt with this dilema?
I beleive it was ecklers that sold a paint chip repair kit. Basically, it has a rough fiberglass "pen" type sander, really fine sandpaper, polishing compund, and a bottle of clearcoat. All you would need is a bottle of touchup paint color of choice.
I've used it on some pretty big cips, one from my hardtop slamming against my rear deck, and one where my headlight bezel put a small chip in my hood when bubba's tape that was holding it on fell off. It took a few iterations for me to get practice and make it look decent, but it can be brought down to a 5 footer.
