I won't have an installable engine 'til October, but I want to check over the electrical system while I have the time. I put the battery in, but no-go. Anybody got some tips on how to make this work without burning the house down?
Is it as simple as bolting in a "dummy" starter? How about the ignition connections? I want to be able to check all the normal circuits...lights inside and out, switchgear, blower, radio, etc...

Absolutely. I am in the same boat and have completely re worked my electrical system without the engine. Go buy a cheap battery and install it. In the engine compartment on the starter wiring harnessget a nut and bolt and screw the wires together with the positive battery cable and you will have pawer throughout the car. just remember you will need to recharge the battery from time to time.
Seems like you just need to attach the 2 positive wires together that would normally go to the starter. That and maybe run some extra grounds. Dang, i got beaten....
