alright....got the busted leaf spring off. it was relatively easy. thanks to all the people who offered advice...it went exactly as i expected. but now i have to get the new stuff in! so here's what im planning. please critique as needed:
1. bolt new spring to differential...but dont fully tighten.
2. fasten end links by jacking up new spring so load isnt on bolt
3. lower the car so weight is back on wheels (im probably going to lower it onto some ramps to have extra wiggle room...is this ok?)
4. progressively torque bolts on differential up to 35 ft/lbs
does this sound correct? any caveats to prepare myself for? thanks for helping out guys

Sounds about right. I use a small piece of wood and a c-clamp tightly on the spring just above a hydraulic jack to jack up the spring. Go slow and work the bolt in as you go and make sure it is all the way down in the Trailing Arm above.
IF you are using new bushings, a little vaseline or something will help the bolt to slide through the bushing easier. You'll see what I mean when you get there.
