My apologies if this is a newbie question and has been answered already a thousand times:
I just bought a 76 Vette and was surprised to only find a lap belt, but no shoulder belt. I consider that unsafe and was curious whether there are any "conversion kits" that would give me the shoulder belt?
PS: I guess since I'm new to this forum and to Vettes this does qualify as a newbie question...
wow i had no idea that later vettes only had lap belts. thats kinda wierd when you figure that my 69 has shoulder belts, i would have thought that the newer vettes would have had to have met more strict safety standards than my old chrome bumper.

Well I'm not sure whether my car never had any shoulder belts, maybe they were removed?
I should add that it is a convertible, so it is kinda hard to mount that shoulder belt with the top getting in the way.
markdtn, thanks for the hint, I checked that site. Lots of knowledge, but I only found a conversion to a 5 point harness, a bit overkill for normal driving.
Just do a search in the C3 section for 'seatbelts' and you'll find a bunch of posts about retrofitting the rear seat f-body seatbelts. You can get them very cheap at wreckyards and there are actually a few companies that sell them just for this purpose.
There should be a provision for a large bolt either on the top of the rear wheel well or on the side of it. You'll probably find it better by looking from the outside behind the inside of the rear tire. Anyways, that's the mounting place for the rear attachment point.
How is your 76 a convertible. They stopped making vetrs in 75. Is it a custom. My 72 vert has the 4th Gen F body belts and they are one of the best mods I have done.
vetteworksonline.com sells what he calls a shark bar, that you can attach harness belts to.He said it also even stiffens the frame up some, but I wouldnt know about that-I havent got one yet.I just bought the fire extinguisher bracket and a chrome Halotron extinguisher though.
