You all that are running without heaters and the blower box, what did you do to replce it under the hood. Am thinking of making one out of aluminum. Love to hear some ideas. Thanks, Bill.
I recently did this, i just took some sheet aluminum from my local menards, cut it down to the right size rectangles, then used screws to put it over the giant square hole left, it looks cool, and you can mount stuff to it
i just cut it flush to the firewall, cut some plexiglass, painted it to match engine bay paint, put some thin black weather stripping around the edge, screwed it in and hung my msd box and coil on it. was worrying about the heat from headers melting it but no problem, been on there for 10 yrs, no melting. nobody's ever noticed what i did. don't drive it in the cold and am never gonna sell it so Y not.
just viewed you're public profile and noticed you're a pro golfer. WOW. i envy u. i'm a golf addict. was upposed to be golfing rite now but got rained out for the 19th time again this year. been the WORST SUMMER ever in michigan, nothing but rain. me and a bud agreed that the best job in the world would be to be a pro golfer. good luck w/your vette and maybe i'll see u on TV sometime. FORE
I laminated a flat section of fiberglass on a piece of glass (waxed so it doesn't stick), I then bonded it onto the firewall (with bonding strips on the inside) and laminated the outside to get it as smooth as possible, then some filler & sanding, painted gloss black (entire firewall after smoothing it) and it looks awesome.
