Default Just finished some carb changes

I started last night.
1. Replace all dangerous rubber fuel hoses
2. Clean up intake, Torquer II
3. Install phenelic gasket, 4-hole 1"
4. Replace choke
5. Paint all with POR-15

First I ripped everything off and covered all the holes and degreased the intake. Wire brush just ruins the finish.

I POR-15 the firewall and accesories off the intake

Replaced the fuel lines and choke

Finished product

The phnelic gasket helps with the off-idle stumble, it's still there but barely noticable now. Of course one expects this with a single plane mated to a Eldebrock carb. The hot start problem is gone and a working choke will be nice for winter.

Actually I did. The firewall is pretty banged up with the fiberglass cloth sticking thru. It's a temp repair. When the car goes to the painter i'll rough it up and shoot gloss black. The POR-15 does a good job in coating over the cloth and making the surface hard. over by the wiper door the fiberglass was so soft you could push it in with your hand. now its hard.

I really find that phenolic gasket interesting. Machining that kind material is our primary business and that's some pretty simple machining. What do those gaskets sell for?

Space your carb for more performance.

Carburetor Spacer, 4-Hole, Square Bore, 1/2 in. Thick, Phenolic, Each

Summit's plastic and phenolic carb spacers offer many advantages. They extend the length of the intake mixture column to improve air/fuel distribution and reduce the fuel temperature inside the carb, resulting in a denser, more powerful fuel charge. They'll also help with linkage clearance when using custom throttle setups. They're available in 1/2 in. and 1 in. thicknesses in both open and ported plenum designs. Gaskets and mounting hardware are included.

Vendor Summit
Product Line Summit Plastic and Phenolic Carb Spacers
Carburetor Spacer Material Phenolic
Carburetor Spacer Style 4-hole
Thickness (in) 0.500
Gaskets Included Yes
Mounting Hardware Included Yes
Carburetor Spacer Finish Natural
