Default 4.56 gears

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to who sells 4.56's for c3's. Everywhere I look only sells up to only 4.10

Thanks for the help and it's good to see the board back up again.

I spent alot of time trying to find 456 gears too but had no luck and settled for 411's.

That is a steep set of gears. You getting ready to go racing I assume. Good luck in your search.

I agree, thank goodness the forum is back.

Looks like some pieces are offered for the '80-up Dana-44, but nothing for the '63-'79 carriers.....

I looked for a long time for my set of 4.56's (no there not for sale!) You need to know that 4.56's were somewhat common in early C2 Vettes and you need to STAY AWAY from them. The year of manufacture is stamped into the ring gear and you want a 1968 or later gear set because the early sets have a step in the pinion that can readillly fail in hard useage. The 1968 and later gears have a tapered pinion shaft and will last much longer that the early sets. You can expect some "gear howl" from even the best set-up gear sets because of the nature of the physics of low gear sets. I do have a set of N.O.S. Zoom brand 5.38 gears if you want them, I'll take $225 for them shipping included. You might want to try Tom's Differentals for low gears, and 4.30's should be able to be found as Richmond was making them up till about 5-7 years ago. I would also try some of the differentail re-builders (like Van Steel) as every so often they get a set traded in as a "core". Good luck, they are AWESOM in the 1/4 mile or short autocross courses (one of the reasons my car runs 12.28@117MPH.)
