Does the 71 have back up lights? If so how do they work? I thought from my assy drwngs that the cable from the trans rev linkage was used for this but they call it a lock out cable. I have not been able to get under my car to see what is there (or not there) but guess I have back up lights in the tail outer ring of my brake light bezel assy. Where is the rev switch then if this is true?
any pics would allways be usefull!

I can answer if your car is a four speed. The reverse switch is mounted on the drivers side of the tranny. It has a small rod that connects it to the reverse linkage. I have some pics on my forum webspace but can't get to it right now or I could show you also. If you would like I can email the pics I have of mine. Shoot me an email eddiengerry@comcast.net
Ok so what is an interlock cable on the 4 speed trans for a 1971? Is it a type of lock out protection? If so how does it work?
If thats the only cable my original question is still pending a good answer. The assy drawings only show the interlock cable not a rev switch and cable assy.
